Questions and Answer

Q. My wife works in a communication center and spends almost 8 hrs a day in front of or on the side of 4 monitors. Do you have any info on this or do you know where I can look for more info?

A. There might be some evidence of prolonged exposure to a computer monitor possibly causing an increased risk of miscarriage. Other sources interpret the studies saying that there is no risk and that women need not worry. To be on the safe side, those women who spend most of their day in front of a computer terminal may want to buy a screen that can fit over the monitor to shield her from the radiation. Your wife might also request to change her location so that she is exposed to fewer monitors.
