Ask A Childbirth Educator Questions and Answer
Q. I have low blood sugar. I was wondering if there were any precautions I
should take while being pregnant?
A.
Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) can quickly occur in any pregnant woman, when
she delays or skips a meal. Eating adequate amounts of food frequently,
eating when hungry and keeping a supply of healthy snacks available while you
are away from home will help you avoid any symptoms. Often, a drop in blood
sugar is the culprit when pregnant women feel light-headed, nauseated or have
insomnia.
