Questions and Answer

Q. Should I still be having white vaginal secretions? Why? What is it?

A. An increase in vaginal secretions is common in pregnancy. The discharge can be clear to white, does not itch and doesn't have a foul odor. It is just the same as a normal discharge except there can be quite bit more of it. The increase in discharge is caused by the increased estrogen in your body causing the vaginal cells to slough off more often. Bathing once a day, wearing cotton underwear and avoiding feminine hygiene sprays can help you feel more comfortable. If you find you get a frothy, cottage cheese-like, itchy, burning, and/or foul or fishy smelling discharge call your practitioner. You might then have a vaginal infection.
