Ask A Childbirth Educator Questions and Answer
Q. Are yeast infections more common during pregnancy?
A. Yeast infections can occur more frequently in pregnancy. This is because the
cells of the vaginal walls produce more normal vaginal discharge and that
contains more glycogen (a sugar-like substance) than usual. It creates a prime
environment for yeast to grow in some women.
