Ask A Midwife
Q. I have a question regarding about spicy food during pregnancy. Is it
okay to eat them? (such as chili pepper, pepper or whatever spicy food)
A.
Yes, it is perfectly safe to eat spicy food during pregnancy, except if the
woman's digestive system is particularly sensitive with this pregnancy. It
won't hurt the baby at all, but she may feel very uncomfortable if she suffers
severe heartburn. Most women are fine, however, with spicy foods. She needs
to follow her individual tastes.
