Ask A Nurse
Questions and Answers

Q. Dear Nurse,

I am a little bit concerned at the moment. I have done a home pregnancy test that was positive and had many of the early symptoms of pregnancy. Today, however, I haven't had as many visible signs and I'm afraid something has happened. I wouldn't be so paranoid, but before having my daughter I had a previous miscarriage so anything causes me concern. Am I concerned for no reason? I don't have an appointment with my ob/gyn for a few weeks. Please advise.

Meredith

A. Meredith,

I see no reason to suspect a miscarriage at this point. Your concern seems to be due to the fact that you are not experiencing symptoms of pregnancy. These side effects do normally subside for some woman and would be considered a welcomed relief for most! Try to relax and enjoy this time of healthfulness and look forward to your new addition!
