Ask A Nurse
Questions and Answers

Q. My period was 5 days late and I took a pregnancy test. The test came back negative. Could I still be pregnant? My period has always been on time to the very day.

A. Yes, you could still be pregnant. Your choices are to either take another pregnancy test or to see your practitioner.

If you restest and the result is negative you would need to see your practitioner about the reason for your tardy period. If you test and it is positive you need to select and visit a practitioner as well for prenatal care. Good luck!
