Ask A Nurse
Questions and Answers

Q. I'm about 8-10 weeks pregnant and have noticed twice that I have a slight brownish coloring on my toilet paper after I use the restroom. It seems to be coming from my vaginal opening. Should I be worried about this being a miscarriage?

A. Many women have a slight discharge in the early weeks of pregnancy that may appear to be a combination of mucous and pink or brownish color. Although this does not necessarily indicate a miscarriage or spontaneous abortion you would probably feel reassured discussing your symptoms with your practitioner.
