Ask A Nurse
Questions and Answers

Q. I am a 19 year old gal from Malaysia want to ask about the pregnancy things......

I just finish my period...the 2nd and the 3rd day after period, I having the sex with my boy friend. do you think this can make me get pregnant? I really scared about this, what can I do now? Can you answer me as soon as possible? Please, thank you.

A. Yes, you can get pregnant having sex 2-3 days after your period if these were your fertile days. You can use many forms of birth control to prevent pregnancy. Are you in a position to seek medical care? You really need to talk further about sex and the risks of pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases and fertility. The risks are great and not worth it for some women who decide not to have sex until they are married. This could be a a choice for you. Please feel free to write back if you are interested in abstinence as a choice for you and I will get you some support.
