The Lusby's Birth Plan
Parents to be: Daniel and Tracy Lusby
Family Practitioner: Dr. Charlotte Clark-Neitzel
Doula: Sandra Guggenmos
Hospital: Capital Medical Center
We have prepared this Birth Plan to help you understand our philosophy
and the kind of care we hope to have for the birth of our child. The
pregnancy has gone very well thus far. We have been careful to eat well
and stay fit, and have done everything we can to prepare for a healthy
and uncomplicated birth. We wish for as natural a birth as possible,
avoiding unnecessary procedures and medications. However, if medications
or procedures become necessary, we ask that you discuss them with us in
advance so that we can participate in the decision making.
Here is a list of a few specific preferences that we have.
I/we would like:
to request room number 407 if it is available.
to be allowed to eat light foods and liquids
during labor.
my husband and labor assistant to be present at
all times.
to invite Katherine Lusby to be present.
to reserve the right to kick anyone out of the
room at any time.
to avoid an epidural and other pain medication:
if needed we want to be the ones to request it.
to use position changes, showers, relaxation,
and breathing techniques for pain management.
to avoid an episiotomy by using: massage, hot
compresses, slow pushing, and position changes.
Dan to have the option to cut the cord.
no bright lights, loud noises, or visitors
during the first hour of birth to allow for bonding.
to delay all routine exams on baby for one hour
to allow for bonding.
baby placed on mine or Dan's chest with blankets
and overhead warmer, if warming is necessary.
to breastfeed only; absolutely no bottles,
pacifiers, artificial nipples, formula, or water.
In case of a Cesarean birth or complications with the baby our main
requests are to have either myself or Dan with our baby at all times, to
have decisions explained and information given.
We would like thank you in advance for your support and kind attention
to our choices. We look forward to a wonderful birth.
