Kyle's Birth
During my pregnancy I had hypothyroidism which is not really a big
deal but i still had to endure ultra sounds and non-stress tests at every
doctor visit to make sure Kyle would be normal sized. You see they thought he
would be small! During my 37th week they informed me that my amniotic fluid
was low and if the baby was stressed I would have to be induced at 38 weeks
and a non stress test declared that he wasn't. so two more weeks and 5 more
doctor appointments went by before they scheduled the induction.
Tuesday morning at 5:45 a.m. my boyfriend and I arrived at
Bayfront Medical Center with our bags and cameras ready to give birth! The
pitocin was started at 7:30 by IV and I thought for sure it wouldn't be long
now! Around 1:30 I started to feel moderate contractions and began to use my
lamaze techniques. By 3:30 I was 1 cm dialated and still not in any real pain
so they decided to take me off the pitocin and let me eat and rest for a
while. At 10 p.m. they put a cervidel strip on my cervix to soften it up so
that I would dialate and give me something to sleep.WRONG! I slept for 2 hours
and started having contractions again! Not real painful ones but just enough to
where I couldn't sleep. At 5:30 a.m. a nurse came in and took out the
cervidel and informed me the pitocin would be started in a hour.By 7:30 I was
feeling some pretty good contractions and asked for some pain relief I was
only 2cm dialated at this time so they said I could only have stadol which
made me sleep between caontractions and alert and in pain during them!I still
was not in that much pain though but at 12:30 my OB came in and stated I was 3
cm and it was time to break my water and that is when the REAL pain started
and with the contractions i felt the urge to push even though I was still only
3 cm dialated so my doctor allowed me to recieve my epidural!:0)The
anesthesiologist came in about 20 minutes later by this time it was around
1:45.My contractions were 30 seconds apart and about 90 seconds long so I was
in some serious pain by the time he got there. After putting the epidural in
took about 10-15 minutes to make me completely numb from the waist down and i
finally got to sleep! I woke up around 4:15 when the nurse came in to "check"
me she stated that she hoped I was atleast to 6 cm by now. Upon exam it was
discover that I was a perfect TEN and the baby was at a +3 station and it was
time to push boy did that wake me up! she told me not to sit up or push and
that she would call my doctor who was there in 10 minutes! I was still numb ,
I mean I felt nothing and was all smiles!!The first push my baby crowned and
they said his head looked small and it should only take about 45 minutes
more.4 contractions and 12 pushes later I felt my baby born !! It was 4:35
p.m. I only pushed for 10 Minutes had 4 stitches and no hemerroids!!!this is a
huge accomplishment for giving birth to a 9LB. 7OZ. bouncing baby boy. That's
right he was HUGE!!!! and he is also the light of my life . He is only 4 days
old now and getting out of the hospital tomorrow ( his sugar level was
low). This was the single most glorious experience of my life. I never thought
I could love so much!!!!
