Tori Kelly Noele
I found out I was pregnant April/95 and I was planning my wedding for
Aug./95 so I would be 4 1/2 months on my wedding day I already bought
my dress and I feared that it would not fit, thankfully I had morning
sickness for the first few months and lost 8 - 10 pounds so my dress
fit perfectly and we got married and everything was wonderful.
My pregnancy went great aside from the morning sickness I had no other
problems. My last day of work was Dec.22/95 a Friday, I was really
looking forward to relaxing and getting things around the house ready
and organized forwhen the baby arrived. I had no problems durning my
pregnancy and my doctor told me I would most likely be late. My first
due date was Jan 3 1996, then after my ultersound they said Jan.1/96 so
I knew I would get though Christmas before the baby arrived (haha).
Christmas eve we are at my husband's cousins house and that night they
decided to guess the birth weight and sex of the baby everyone put in
$5.00 and who ever was closest would split the money with the baby.
Later on in the evening one of my aunts said to my mother-in-law that
I looked like I had dropped and that I would go any day now, I just
laughed.
We got home around midnight, my in-laws and brother in-law and his wife
were there we just sat around the tree taking. I went into the kitchen to
get a glass of milk, I looked at the clock in was 12:10 Christmas
morning, I said well I guess I'm not going to have a Christmas baby
(big mistake). Went sat down and two minutes my water broke I ran to
the bathroom and just sat there on the toilet I was in total shock. My
sister-in-law calls the hospital and they say to come in right away.
I wasn't even packed yet, my husband through a bag together for me.
Just as we are leaving Marcel's whole family is there we go out to the
car and we notice that his family left all the doors opened on their
cars the hurried so fast to get there that they forgot. We get to the
hospital and get checked, two centimeters dilated still aways to go.
Eveyone came to the hospital with us there was around 15 of the family
there. My one cousin Debbie say the heart rate of the baby and said
I was having a boy and she wanted to put in another $5.00 to bet on the
sex again. After everyone had left the nurse came in and said that
my husband could go home and sleep because I would have the baby until
around noon Christmas day, so he went home around 1:30am and I tried to
sleep but couldn't finally around 3:30 I get up and go find the nurse
I was the only one there so she was relaxing watching TV in another
room, she tells me that my husband is in the lounge, I go get him and
we walk the halls a bit and just talk. They check me again around 6am
and I'm at 6cm. I'm starting to feel the contractions now but not to
bad I'm still able to walk a bit and talk. At 7am I just want to lay
down I'm so tired. We go to my room and watch some TV my husband turns
on TSN the sports network for last nights highlights. Well on TSN they
show the same 1/2 show about 6 times in a row and by the 5th show I'm
ready to break the TV. Around 9:00 everyone shows up again and the hall
is packed with family waiting for my to have the baby and then they can
all go do their Christmas stuff. At 9:10 the nurse comes and checks me
again and I'm fully dilated and ready to go but I don't have the urge
to push. My contrations were never out of control and I never asked for
anything for the pain, I'm not saying that I wasn't in pain, just not
enough to require a hugh needle in my back. I asked the nurse how long
did she think I would have to push for, she said about 1 hour, an hour
I don't think I can push that long, I was totally exhausted I was falling
asleep in between contractions. So we start pushing and the baby comes
down a little but not enough after an hour the nurse get the squat bar
and so I lean over that and try to push, nothing. So back on the bed
again and I push some more, nothing. Finally around 12:00 (noon), the
doctor say that we are going to try the vaccuum, so for this I require a
small episiotomy, a few pushes later and the head is born, and with the
head stuck out of me the baby let out a hugh wail, you could hear
everyone in the hall cheering. All of a sudden I had this burst of
energy and I felt so alive and rested, one more push and the body is born.
The doctor put the baby on my tummy. One of the nurses at my feet took
the baby's legs and opened them up so we could see the sex, my husbands
starts crying and says "It's a Girl" I was totally shocked I thought
for sure I was having a boy, she was so tiny and she had a full head
of black hair. They took her to weigh her all in my room and the nurse
said OH BOY!, 5lbs. 8 ozs. they figure she was about 3 weeks early.
Once they are finished weighing her and cleaning her up they bring her
back to me, my husband and I couldn't stop crying. They finished
stiching me up 3 stiches, and I tell my husband to go and let everone
in the hall know and to bring them in. He's crying so hard that it took
him a few minutes to gather himself and go and tell them. When he told
them a girl they all look at him and said "A Girl we heard the nurse
say boy" what they heard was the nurse say oh boy about her weight.
They took her to check her out my husband went with them and I just
relaxed for about an hour. We went home the next day and had a
wonderful belated-Christmas. The nurses kept telling us to give her a
Christmas
name, so we named her Tori Kelly Noele. I've always liked the name Tori
and Kelly is my maiden name, and Noele is for the nurses.
Tori will be two this year and she is the light of my life.
Tori ended up getting all the money from the pool they had going because
no one even came close to guessing her weight, they we all over.
