Who We Are

Two Babes
My first child, Katherine Hailey, was born on July 14, 1996. I am very
lucky that my sister is a doula. when I found out I was pregnant I thought
I had to get a doctor and do what ever they told me. My doula was very
good on informing me about all my options. I was really scared about the
birth. I was scared of how much it would hurt. But, I learned that there
is a reason for how all of this works, and that I am capable of dealing
with the pain. So, after a lot of planning and support from my doula and
my wonderful husband, our daughter was born naturally in the hospitol-much
to the amazement of the staff.
While I was pregnant with my second child, my husband and I prepared for
the birth. We knew we did not want to do it in the hospitol again, so we
found a good midwife and a local birth center. There are so many reasons
not to chooses the hospitol, this was an easy decision for us. My second
child was born very quickly, almost on our couch. We named him William
Tyler. He weighed 8 pounds 12 ounces at birth. My labor only lasted about
4 hours. Shorter labor is not necessarily better, it is incredibly
intense! Tyler was a beautiful baby with an amazing smile. His sister was
so excited (she was at his birth)!
Our son died yesterday, in his crib. I do not know how to explain this to
our daughter, much less to myself. Babies are so precious!! I will always
remember my son, and I will probably always miss him. But I am so grateful
for his time with me.
