Who We Are

Meagan Nicole

In November 1993, We found out I was pregnant. We were sooo excited. I was very sick throughout the entire pregnancy, but as long as I ate somewhat regular I was ok. I seemed to be having a routine pregnancy. In April we found out we were having a girl. Oh we were excited. I was going to have the first girl in 46 years. John's family couldn't believe it!!!

Throughout the summer things seemed to be going as they should. About 11 am on August 5th, I woke having horrible pains. John called the doctor and they decided I just slept through a big part of labor and I had better get to the hospital.

When we arrived at the hospital they did an ultrasound and tried to find her heartbeat. They couldn't. My husband was devastated and I was in shock. I also had severe toxemia so they decided to use pitocin to try to speed up my labor. They checked me several times and I wasn't dilated and my water hadn't broke. 12 hours later my blood pressure skyrocketed and they decided they should do a C section. My husband was there by my side the whole time. When they cut me open they found that I had been bleeding internally. My baby had died and I wasn't doing good at all.

After surgery, I got to hold my precious baby. Meagan Nicole is her name. The nurses at the hospital took pictures and footprints. We held her for a while then I had to rest.

I was overwhelmed I had 9 months to plan for her birth and 2 days to plan her funeral.

We found out she died due to placental abruption. No other explanation really. We were also told we could try again when we were ready.
